Enabling Microsoft Copilot for protected documents

  • By default, the Microsoft Copilot chat pane is disabled in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • You will see the Copilot chat pane for protected documents only if it has been enabled by your organization.
  • When enabled, a watermark will automatically appear on the Copilot chat pane for protected content.

Opening a file with Universal Protection

What you need to know

  • Files formats other than the standard ones are protected with Universal Protection. Files formats such as MP3, MP4, JT, BPX, SVG, PSD, XD, etc. are considered universal file formats.
  • Users with permissions on such files will always have Full Control, which means they can even unprotect the file.
  • To open a file with Universal protection, you need to install the Seclore desktop agent.
